Danica Little’s journey began as a military child, traveling throughout the Southwestern United States. She graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Victoria, Texas, in 2008. Immediately after high school, Danica joined the United States Air Force, where she received EMT certification through military training. Her medic training included mass casualty management, safety measures in natural disaster response, and decontamination procedures and protocol. Gaining experience in women’s health, family medicine, and pediatrics, she discovered a passion for nursing and pediatric care while stationed at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. After seven years of service, Danica separated from the military to pursue her educational goals.
After her military career, Danica moved to Little Rock with her husband, Dustin, and graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She began her nursing career at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) hospital in the progressive/trauma unit, caring for higher acuity patients requiring orthopedic surgery, respiratory support, and continuous cardiac monitoring.
Danica then started her nurse practitioner career at the Central Arkansas Family Clinic (CAFC), managing pediatric patients aged 21 and under. Practicing in rural Arkansas allowed her to grow professionally and gain confidence while collaborating remotely with other professionals.
During her post-graduate program at UAMS, Danica deployed a research project titled “Vaccine Education for Healthcare Providers at Southwest Little Rock Clinic.” Her dedication to excellent patient care at UAMS earned her a DAISY Award.
Danica received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2023, specializing in Pediatric Primary Care.
Danica is motivated by her genuine love for children and the importance of establishing trusting relationships through empathy and education. She also emphasizes the inclusion of parents in the decision-making process for their child’s care.
In her spare time, Danica enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, historical events, and politics, attending sporting events, and spending quality time with her family. She and her husband welcomed their daughter in 2017 and have a lovable wiener dog named Winston. Fun fact: Danica met her husband in Oman, a country located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia.
