Diana Thornburg, a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner(PMHNP-BC) joins Mt Spokane Pediatrics with more than 20 years of nursing experience. The great majority of her bedside career she spent caring for children and adolecence.
She completed her undergraduate studies in 2001, in her home state of New Jersey, atRutgers University College of Nursing. In 2008, she and her family moved to Spokane. Sheworked for more than a decade in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Sacred HeartMedical Center, where part of her role included serving the mental health needs of thechildren of Spokane. She has always been extremely passionate about advocating andcaring for those who struggle with mental illness. During her time in the ER, she realizedthe great need for psychiatric providers in the community that specialize in treatingchildren, and decided to further her education in that field. In 2018, she completed hergraduate studies at Gonzaga University, earning her Master’s degree and becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
Diana believes in providing patient-centered, individualized care, and fosters the philosophy that every child can achieve their maximum potential with the right supports in place. She focuses on a positive, strength-based approach.
Diana resides in Spokane with her husband, her two children, and their three dogs (two silly pugs and an energetic blue heeler). She enjoys camping, hiking, and exploring all of the beauty of the PNW. She also takes joy in gardening and practicing yoga.
