Alyson Nicol is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in social
work practice. Alyson was born and raised in Spokane. She attended college at Oregon State University
where, during her studies, she developed a passion for working with children and families. Alyson
graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science. After two
years working post grad in domestic violence advocacy, Alyson attended Portland State University and
graduated with a Master of Social Work degree in 2018. Over the past 6 years, Alyson has worked in a
variety of service settings providing behavioral health services to youth and their families including
schools, outpatient clinics, and inpatient psychiatric treatment.
Alyson loves working with children, youth, and families to empower them towards reaching the goals
they have defined for their wellness and recovery. Alyson values patient and family feedback and is
committed to fostering a collaborative relationship in therapy. Her approach to therapy is informed by
attachment, developmental, systems, and behavioral theories. Alyson has experience in evidence-based
treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Alyson strives to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for youth and families to
participate in the therapeutic process.
In her spare time, Alyson loves spending time with her family and friends in the Spokane region. She also
enjoys outdoor recreation, playing with her dog, making music, volunteering, and long-distance running.
