Haleigh Lunas, MSN, ARNP, CPNP-PC

Haleigh, a proud ZAG, was born and raised in a small wine-country town in Northern California. She journeyed to the Pacific Northwest in 2007 to attend nursing school at Gonzaga University, where she met her husband Michael in 2008. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Gonzaga University in 2011 before moving to Denver, Colorado to begin working as a pediatric nurse. She worked as an RN at Children’s Hospital Colorado and with pediatric home health taking care of children with serious debilitating chronic conditions. In 2013 she moved back to her home state of California to work for world-renowned Stanford Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital as an RN for their nationally ranked Nephrology program. She spent time in both outpatient and inpatient roles as a Nurse Coordinator for their pediatric chronic kidney disease clinic and dialysis program.

Haleigh graduated with her Masters in Nursing from the University of Colorado Denver College of Nursing in 2014 and is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Stanford Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. This invaluable critical care experience cemented Haleigh’s passion for primary care and since then she has worked at Santa Clara Valley Health Center and Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics in a primary care role.

Shortly after the birth of their first child, Haleigh and Michael decided that they wanted to move back to the Pacific Northwest. Haleigh loves being a momma first and foremost. In her spare time you will find her traveling abroad, curling up with a good book, attending barre classes or enjoying wine tasting and the theatre arts. Haleigh and Michael currently live in Coeur d’Alene and have two boys.

Haleigh is passionate about teaching young nurses. For the duration of graduate school in Colorado she was a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate nursing courses. Before moving back to the PNW in the fall of 2016, Haleigh accepted a position at her alma mater as part-time adjunct clinical nursing faculty. Haleigh loves the enthusiasm of the Gonzaga nursing students and feels honored to be a part of inspiring future nurse leaders.

Haleigh is currently working towards her Doctorate in Nursing Practice through University of Colorado Denver and is completing her doctoral project at Mt. Spokane Pediatrics on the topic of increasing exclusive breastfeeding. Haleigh is a Certified Lactation Educator and is working towards becoming an IBCLC.

Haleigh believes in collaborating with patients and their families to provide holistic and individualized care. She believes in providing evidence-based education and treatment for all and aims to empower families to be advocates for their own health and wellness.
